What is the Chat Widget (and how does it work)?

The Chat Widget is a small, on-page chat window you embed on your property manager website. Visitors click the chat icon, type a question, and your Virtual Concierge responds immediately with clear, property-specific answers. It’s designed to feel natural: guests ask, your concierge answers, covering everything from availability and amenities to check-in details and local recommendations.

Because it lives on your own site, the widget keeps the conversation (and the conversion) close. Guests never have to bounce to another platform to get what they need.

How to add the Chat Widget

You’ll set things up once in UpMarket and then paste a small code snippet into your website. It takes just a few minutes.

Step-by-step

1. Head to your UpMarket Host Management Area and click “Add UpMarket chat to your website.”

2. Click “Get your Chat Code.”

Click on "Get your Chat Code" to generate your snippet

3. On the next screen, enter the Website name under “Website name.”
You’ll also see the “Location” dropdown. Use this if you want to create a chat widget for a specific location only. If you want one widget for your entire portfolio, leave this option blank. Click “Create.”

4. A new entry will be created. Click the three dots on the right and select “Show.”

5. Copy the code snippet provided and paste it into your website. That’s it – UpMarket chat is now live on your site.

Tip: If your site has a global header or footer include, place the snippet there so the widget appears on every page.

Best practices for higher conversions

  • Answer moments that matter: Add short prompts near pricing and availability sections (e.g., “Questions about dates or rates? Ask our concierge.”).
  • Promote direct booking links: Configure replies to include your direct booking CTA when guests ask about availability, price, or policies.
  • Qualify gently: Ask one or two friendly follow-ups (e.g., number of guests, travel dates) to collect useful lead info without adding friction.
  • Measure & iterate: Keep an eye on common questions and refine your property info so the concierge’s answers get sharper over time.
